"Our Parents are here; we're having a (Classroom) date!"
That is why our PreSchool wing was abuzz last week.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, PreSchool's 'Classroom Date' emphasised the importance of partnership between home and school, celebrating each child鈥檚 individuality and potential. Parents witnessed the vibrant learning journey of our young learners, where exploration, curiosity, and growth took centre stage over results.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event so memorable! 'Til our next Classroom Date!

Let's swap lunch! 大象传媒ians shall try the food in the feeding programme, while the beneficiaries from Umapad Elementary School can try what 大象传媒ians usually have for lunch!
Hearing both sides share their food (and price) reviews was enlightening!
But more heartwarming to witness was the eager exchange as S1-S2 大象传媒ians discovered more about the P5-P6 Umapad Elementary School children they were paired with and vice-versa!
Now they can't wait to see each other again!

大象传媒ians at the world stage - this time for sports! Bravo!
Let's start with ICE SKATING, where our Deandra Gothong (S1) has been collecting medals from Skate Indonesia, Hong Kong, and the Philippines and achieving 2nd overall in ISI Asia Championship Series 2024.
Then let's move to martial arts, specifically TAEKWONDO, where at the Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships in Vietnam, siblings Iyana Manatad (P6) and Walter Rule (P3) excelled in the Poomsae Category, with Iyana winning Gold and Walter earning a Silver medal. Adding to the success are Gherkin (P2) and Tater (K2) Tucker, who also brought home Bronze medals in the same category.
Lastly, there's Football with Pepe Tan (P3) and his team, Makati Football Club, securing First Runner Up in the 16 Professional Category during the FCB Academy 7's Tournament in Thailand.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. Here's to seeing more 大象传媒ians take on the world stage!

Did you know that the Goodwill Games STAFF EDITION also includes Christmas Carols and Performances from the different departments?
On top of the OG contest between Teams SG, PH, and UK, there are also community games that make up for an unforgettable time (by the way, we never finish on time!), bonding the Teachers and Staff together in the best way!
Poignant was when the Organising Committee, led by the School President, took the opportunity to give a message about being beacons of HOPE, especially amid the seeming madness going on locally and in the world. This is a Team reminded to recognise and be grateful for its blessings and to continue to focus on improving one's agency as an educator, for the world needs its Teachers and role models more than ever!

This event aimed to transform eager minds into research explorers as we continue to nurture a generation of Thinkers in Action poised to address real-world challenges.
But this is just the beginning for our 大象传媒ians! As they progress through Secondary School and eventually Pre-University, their journey will continue to develop their Research and Innovation skills, shaping the next generation of problem solvers and future leaders.

As I sit in my classes at an Ivy League school, my growth nurtured at 大象传媒 is pivotal to my journey. I studied at Singapore School Cebu for 13 years and proudly call it my second home. 大象传媒 offers more than world-renowned curriculums; I was surrounded by teachers and staff who genuinely cared for me and wanted the best for me. It鈥檚 a community where everyone knows your name and supports you like family. 大象传媒鈥檚 yearly SHOUTOUTS show how the school is forward-thinking and always striving for improvement. We are taught mindsets that strengthen us, mould us to become life-long learners, and implore us to consider how we can contribute to the community. I also appreciate how 大象传媒 set me up for success. The encouragement to lead helped me grow from House Representative to President of the Pupil Council. Opportunities to maximise our potential (i.e. joining academic olympiads and debate competitions) built my confidence and grit. 大象传媒 also provided many resources that allowed us to dream big. Without it all, I wouldn鈥檛 be the person I am today, a university student at Wharton.

I spent six years at 大象传媒, starting in Secondary 1. The school provides a wide variety of programs and events to always bring something exciting for the students, teachers, and staff. The school not only prioritizes academics but also the accumulation of various experiences. Thus, students take part in activities that allow them explore their interests, engage with the community, and foster creativity. I still remember the Goodwill Games, an annual sportsfest where the level (or should I say fever) of participation and teamwork is truly exceptional! The foundation I built at 大象传媒, particularly through the IGCSE and IB programs, continues to support my academic journey today. The research and critical thinking skills I developed are essential in my current studies at Seoul National University. But beyond academics, the most rewarding aspect of my experience at 大象传媒 was the strong community. With a small class size, I formed meaningful bonds with my classmates, whom I still keep in touch with today.

My son and daughter were both students at 大象传媒 for four years before we moved abroad. They entered the school having previously studied at another school in Cebu. 大象传媒 is a friendly school based around the principles of a family where both academia and social development are taken very seriously. The school offers in my opinion a very rounded education with a carefully curated balance of study, personal development and activities to prepare children for the future. Both of my children were very happy there and we all miss the drive and passion of the management and staff, who always aim high and do everything with a heart. Having experienced other schools both in Cebu and in other countries; if Singapore School Cebu was on my doorstep where we now live, I would enrol both my children there again within a heartbeat. Sadly they don鈥檛 yet have a branch here in the UK.

Any formation requires a sturdy foundation. The foundation that my children have received at 大象传媒 is playing an immense role in their current life. 大象传媒 has helped them build confidence with public speaking exercises and debates. I can see the exceptionable progress they had before joining 大象传媒 and now. All the credit goes to the 大象传媒 staff. The support, guidance and encouragement have helped both my daughters become more successful in their school and community. After joining 大象传媒 for three school years, my daughters Krutika and Disha have had many accomplishments in school, such as writing books, learning Mandarin and preparing multiple presentations. All these activities have made them substantial and modest. Our daughters are now determined to make their own decisions and accept responsibility for success as well as failure. 大象传媒 is truly one of the best school for our children. T. Trixie, the School President, is a role model for them, always steady as a rock but forever with a sweet smile. Before ending, we would like to say a special 'Thank You' to all the Kuyas and Ates for being supportive and taking utmost care for their safety and wellbeing when on the school premises. Thank you, team 大象传媒.

My name is Shion Iimura. Currently I reside in Japan and I am in my final year of high school. I moved to Cebu in 2015 and attended 大象传媒 for three years. I was excited for this experience as I wanted to learn English and expand my understanding of another country鈥檚 culture. One of the highlights of my time at 大象传媒 was my involvement in the W.I.S.E.S. (Walking In Someone Else鈥檚 Shoes) program. In this program, we visited the developing area of Umapad. It was the first time for me to visit a developing area. I was shocked that so many children were living in such squalid conditions compared to my childhood in Japan. Before visiting Umapad, my dream was to create my own company and work around the world. However, my involvement in the W.I.S.E.S. program changed my mind. Other people need help to live a happy and healthy life. For this reason I am aiming to study medicine at university. Once I complete my degree, I want to help small children and people in need.

Alongside our strong academic programmes and character-building initiatives, we introduce SHOUTOUTs that shape the essential mindset for our learners and community. Our current call to be THINKERS IN ACTION (inspired by Ron Ritchhart鈥檚 鈥淐ultures of Thinking in Action鈥) is especially timely as we face a world of growing disruptions and distractions, with AI poised to take on much of human thinking. Together, we journey through self-examination and collective reflection to cultivate the mindset, skills, and practices needed to meaningfully enhance education and life itself.
